(Michael:) I've looked at Pligg -- what's it get us that Drupal doesn't offer? Drupal does "bubble-up news" or whatever. Does anybody have a salient comparison of the two?

  • Does anyone know of a tool that provides something richer than the typical waterfall commenting, i.e., something that can structure a meaningful deliberative flow? Thebonobo 13:15, 5 December 2007 (PST)

[edit] Pligg = Open Source Digg

I've been recommending Pligg as part of the Open Party toolset simply because of its ability to manage issues of concern to the community. If Drupal has the ability to give stories and thumbs up/down and display the most popular on a news page, as well as providing the ability for the community to discuss the stories at length, then I imagine Drupal is a better choice than Pligg.

However, Digg does offer an API which provides us with the ability to integrate our discussions and news stories into Digg.com. This would make for an excellent viral marketing strategy to attract the Digg community -- themselves, somewhat of an Open Source "Political Party" -- back around to MondoGlobo. The API is currently in use by the WSJ and Sony (I believe) due to its marketing potential.

[edit] Removing OpenBSD

Sorry, Verbose -- I don't think we need to specify the operating system. That's too low-level. --Michael 19:27, 16 December 2007 (PST)
